Mckellar
Come ride Mckellar area with Ontario Snowmobile Adventures

Mckellar area is one of our favorite places to ride.
Lots of staked lake running and tons of snow to play in.

wadding snow

We had stopped to make a fire, eat hot-dogs for lunch and get warm.
It was a test of endurance to wade the snow
in search of fire wood. Step in the wrong spot and you
where up to your waist in powder !

Old Baldy

Those tiny little specks down below are snow machines.
The view from on top of Old Baldy is beautiful.

Dad on Pikes Peak
No one knows just how far you can see from atop Pikes Peak but I can assure you that it's the most talked about subject while standing on this famed mountain, located between Mckellar and Dunchurch. Years ago there was no trail to Pikes Peak and my Dad would blaze his own trail through the bush and over the lakes to take any one who wanted to see this wonder. Back then, this trip would take all day, now with the groomed trails it's about an hours ride. Getting to Pikes Peak wasn't the ultimate feat, it was reaching the summit. Many had made the trip, but not all could boast that they had made it to the top.  Today because of dedicated volunteers you will sometimes, find the trail groomed to the Peak.

If you wish to ride to Pikes Peak
Follow the link to Dun-Ahmic on the left and they have a trail
map posted. You will find Pikes Peak right on their map.

Camp Mckellar
Pictured here a typical amount of snow at the camp.

Camp Mckellar
Winter of 2001

Now that is serious
snow !!

You could have easily
walked onto the roof
with ease.

There was almost too much snow !
Is that even possible ?

Tips for riding in Mckellar area

Gas up at Mckellar Country if your passing through. There's not a lot of stations around.
Stay on staked lake trails. As with anywhere, there could be unsafe or open water.
There are no accommodations in the village. Parry Sound or Loring would be a better bet.
The only restaurant in Mckellar is Mckellar Country.

Double check on gas in Mckellar winter of 2007.
I here it has not had regular hours.
